WA 4, Draft 2: Unquestionable Emotions

We are all connected,
Somehow in life,
The mystery is how we meet
And what will happen…

A boy stands frozen in the blowing wind,
Bundled inside his jacket he warms his hands blowing on them.
A girl stands waiting alongside this boy she does not know.
Both standing alone they steal glances at each other,
Wondering what the other is waiting for.
The girl is without jacket or warmth.
The boy offers small talk
To end the awkward silence in the air.
But neither is warm enough to speak.
The boy caringly hands his jacket over to the girl
And the girl accepts the jacket with a simple smile.
Neither moves,
Snow falls,
And ice begins to form on the tip of the boy’s nose.
Not knowing what to do
The girl takes his hand,
And holds into within hers.
Unalarmed by her presence
He moves closer.
No words exchanged,
A friendship begins,
And never ends.
Throughout high school,
Neither speaks of this one moment they shared.
Each remembers this special time
During the breakups,
And fights,
They each face.
They hear about one another,
And pretend to not listen
About the awful times each is going through.
During those times,
You need someone to care,
Someone to be there,
And share.
Each cares
About the other,
Yet they still do not move,
To share their emotions.

It took awhile,
Then one day,
The boy passes in the hallway,
Slips a note in her hand,
And thus begins,
An unending story.

This force that bonds them together
Never leaves.
It is a connection,
That binds them together,
An unquestionable emotion.

Through fights and furies
Neither hurries.
Through sadness and depression,
There waits a better time.
It is strengthened,
It is weakened,
But can never be broken.
They are similar,
They are different,
But the flame that bonds them together
Never ceases.

WA 4, Draft 1: The Flame

Sitting,
Watching,
Freezing.
Holding hands,
Close together,
How did they meet…

WA 3, Draft 3: Through My Eyes (Photographer)

Eye

The shutter speed is slow and tiring. No matter how hard I try the image will not stay focused. If I stop down on the image and reduce the amount of light I am sure to fall asleep. If I change my depth of field by standing up the composition is sure to be greater and just might keep me awake. However, it is all controlled by my aperture.

Pupil

The aperture regulates the amount of light reaching the film. It changes depending on the how the light affects the composition of the photograph. To make a more contrasting and harsher picture we might let in lots of light to produce a shadow through the lens.

Window

The vertical and horizontal lines frame the image making for an interesting composition. The cold air fogs the lens as the ambient light streams through to create a surreal image. The writing from little children on the panes obstructs this ethereal world.

Trunk (of human)

The camera body supports the lens and keeps the image in focus. The support the camera body provides makes it heavy. Depending on how the camera is turned the composition of the picture will differ. The camera body sits atop the tripod which helps stabilize it so the picture will not be blurred.

Memory

A photograph stops the action of the subject. It’s a moment in time that is captured through the camera’s lens. The exposed film is taking a picture that can never be forgotten. The photo that is produced is a combination of how the person took the photo and how it was developed. If the composition is interesting everyone will be able to remember that moment forever.

The camera body suppports the lens and keeps the image in focus. The support the camera body provides makes it heavy to lift but easy to stabalize. Depending on how the camera is turned the composition of the picture will differ.

Legs

It takes a lot to balance this heavy camera on a tripod. No matter how hard I try it’s sure to fall over. The shutter speed is so fast that if I just handhold the camera the image will be blurred. But I can’t reduce shutter speed either because the subjects are moving so fast. Maybe, if I just spread the tripod a little further the tripod will hold it and the camera will not fall again.

Memory

A photograph stops the action of the subject. It’s a moment in time that is captured through the camera’s lens. The exposed film, which is formed by the clumping of silver halide crystals, is taking a picture that can never be forgotten. The photo that is produced is a combination of how the person took the photo and how it was developed. If the composition is interesting everyone will remember and will always be able to remember.
